Julie Olszewski
Executive Director
Singapore IT Hub and Global Data Science Lead


Julie began her career more than 25 years ago at Merck & Co., Inc., Kenilworth, NJ, USA as a scientist doing basic research on inflammatory diseases. As her interest in data generation and clinical studies grew, she then advanced her career in clinical development, enabling her to take on various global and regional leadership roles in IT and Product Development. Over the years, Julie’s responsibilities expanded across different continents, with primary focus in the US, Belgium, China, Japan, and now Singapore.

Leading MSD’s global data science team from the Singapore IT Hub, Julie’s main duty lies in driving the Hub’s role in harnessing advanced technology and nurturing inventions for life. As the Hub leader, she oversees a wide range of teams including IT Risk Management and Cybersecurity, Data Science and Analytics and Cloud Services, among others.

Julie is passionate about all things digital – from rejuvenating corporate culture to promoting collaboration, she believes that technology plays a crucial role in establishing the workforce of the future.  She actively engages the local start-ups and universities in Japan, China and Asia Pacific (JCAP) with a two-fold objective: firstly, to grow the emerging fields of data science and cybersecurity in the region, and to develop the local talent pool to help improve Singapore’s future healthcare ecosystem.

Julie currently lives in Singapore with her family. In her free time, she enjoys learning about world cultures through their art, music, and folk stories. She also seeks out opportunities to connect with people from different walks of life, where diversity and cultural uniqueness play an integral part in fostering innovation.
